It's June and that means ACVIM Forum time! We're so excited to be heading to the ACVIM Forum in Phoenix next week. It's one of our favorite conferences because get to learn all things internal medicine and, of course, we get to hang out with our fellow IM nerds. So what is ACVIM? It's the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the college that credentials the Internal Medicine Veterinarian Specialists (DACVIM). They host the annual Forum with over 450 sessions held over 4 days taught by industry leaders, both technicians and veterinarians. It's the best internal medicine continuing education. Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary TechniciansThe Forum is where AIMVT holds its yearly credentialing exam. Ashley and I sat for our exams 3 years ago. (What?! It's been 3 years?!) The following year we went back for our pinning ceremony and I remember the overwhelming sense of accomplishment as we received our pins. We'd worked our butts off for almost 2 years to get to that point and we'd done it. Fast forward three years and Ashley will be leading the AIMVT annual meeting as president. I'll be hanging out absorbing the tech case presentations (always my favorite!), learning from fellow technicians, and hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones. Let's Be Social! Please say hello if you see us! We'll be bringing goodies with us to share, so don't be afraid to catch our attention!!! Be sure to follow us on Facebook for pictures of the week. Use the hashtag #IMFPPatACVIM Follow the official Forum hashtag #ACVIM to follow all things Forum. AIMVT Happenings at the ForumHere's a list of some of the big things you should check out. You can bet Ashley and I will be there!! Tuesday:
**Make sure to see the ACVIM Forum schedule for any potential changes** We hope this helps you find you're way around the Forum. Can't wait to see you!! See You in Phoenix!!

We're so excited to start 2019 with big plans for the year. Thank you for joining us since we launched in August. We hope the information we're providing is helping you and your family live happier, healthier lives. What we accomplished in 20182018 was a learning year for IMFPP. We launched the website in August and since then have been working hard at creating weekly blog posts as well as creating the disease pages. Our weekly blog post has been a place of pride for us. We're working hard to ensure it is released every Thursday morning and has the highest quality information. We've had some amazing contributing authors and plan to keep bringing you the best we can. Currently the pages that have the most information are the urinary, endocrine, liver, hematology, and immunology. These pages are not 100% complete, but most of the basics are there. As we continue to grow, these pages will continue to be fleshed out. We're excited to have grown our newsletter list to over 100 subscribers! Everyone on our list got a copy of our Weekly Treatment Tracker and we've heard great feedback on it. Thank you so much to everyone that's joined us so far. If you'd like to join here's the link: Subscribe Now! In the background we've been working on the nitty-gritty details to set up our business for the growth we have planned in the future. Plans for 2019It's time for specialty care:Your pet's medical care may be more complicated than your primary veterinary feels comfortable managing. Or maybe, things just aren't getting better and you want a second opinion. Either way, you've found yourself headed to a consultation with a specialist. What can you expect? First of all, the beginning of the appointment will probably feel very similar to what you're used to at your primary vet. There's probably some differences like the practice is in a large university setting, or a 24/7 hospital. Either way, your going to speak to a staff member (most likely a vet tech) who gets a detailed history about your pet's history. Be prepared for this to be in depth, we're making sure we have as much information as possible to create the most complete picture of your pets health. Don't be offended if we ask basic questions, we want get it right for your pet. Check out the article about good things to bring with you to every appointment by clicking the link here. The specialist will offer diagnostics or treatments that may not be available at your primary vet (pDVM). The specialist will work closely with you and your pDVM to provide care with the goal for your pet to transition back to your pDVM for continued care once the immediate disease process is either treated or under control.
